Illini Powerlifting - Team Illinois won the 2005 WABDL World Team Championship! There were more than 640 lifters for this competition in Reno, Nevada. I will post more video soon. Here is my video. Bench attempts were 245 kg, 260 kg, and a miss at 290 (couldn't touch). Deadlift attempts were 275 kg. and a miss at 307.5 kg. I was injured on the 307.5 and had to be carried off the platform. After one month I will begin lifting again. I placed 2nd in Bench Press and 3rd in Deadlift.

Hello Okayama Powerlifters! Greetings from Illinois!
On October 1st, I lifted in the 140kg. weight class at Bench America 3. This was an amazing meet, with many crazy strong benchers. I was using a very new and very tight Titan F6 size 50 which required ALOT of weight to touch. I opened with 290 kgs., but the weight crashed back into the rack, cutting my right hand open. On second attempt, I did better, but my right arm was just a centimeter away from lockout, so I missed the lift and was out of the meet.
It was a good experience, and I hope to do better next year.
In November, the members of Illini Powerlifting will lift in the WABDL World Bench Press and Deadlift Championships in Reno, Nevada.

Is your right hand safe? The second attempt of 290Kg Bench was regrettable.
Last sunday,Japanese National Sports Festival was held in Okayama. Miyake established the Japanese National record of 229Kg by bench press. http://okayama-power.homeip.net/2005/20051023/P1020733.wmv

229 kg is a fantastic bench! Contratulations to Miyake! The video is very impressive. I wish he could teach our lifters to have such a good arch and excellent technique.

Thank you for coming to Fort Wayne all the way with Ben for John Hudson and the other day. I think that it is possible to make the bench shirt work well if the stretch of and the scapula of the technique of bench press is done and it is flexible. And, I think that the arch rises, too.

A few weeks after the Illinois State Championships, Ben did a WABDL Illinois State Record bench press of 165kg. At the State Championships, Ben set all the records for Illinois at his weight class and division: squat, bench, deadlift, and total.
Because of a serious injury, I only participated in the bench press at the Illinois State Championships. I benched 255kg for an American Record for the Submaster Division of the 140kg. weight class.

If Mr. Okamura comes to Hawaii, I think we can help him with his hotel costs. He can share a room with Ben Cantrell.

Congratulations to Mr. Okamura on his finish at the IPF Jr. World Championships. IPF World competition is very difficult. We expect to hear even more great things about him in the future.
